Las Vegas

On the same day that Joe was celebrating his last day at Envoy, I was making my way to Vegas for the ACH Conference.  Rachel went with me on the first night to attend the Happy Hour and shake hands with eREV and Dave Dickson.  She left the next morning and the conference started.

The conference was at the Rio, a hotel we had never stayed in.  I was able to hang out with Mandy from JetBlue, who I had met at a Rev Rec Task Force Meeting a few weeks before.  It was informative and fun - especially when Elvis showed up!

Joe came out on Thursday, the last day of the conference.  That night, we went to see Jeff Dunham at Planet Hollywood.  Then on Friday, we went out to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam, which was really cool.  Joe and I had both toured Hoover Dam in a previous life, so we didn't take the tour, but we did take a walk across the new Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.  It was sooooo windy!!!!  But the views of the dam were worth it.

Lake Mead is quite low, but still beautiful.  I would love to come back sometime and rent a houseboat and explore it more.

The dark mark at the top, indicates where the water line used to be.
To complete our loop that day, we went to the Valley of Fire State Park.  It was so beautiful!!

The next day, we headed to Henderson for breakfast, then met some friends of mine for lunch.  Candi Smith, a friend from AA, figured out we were in Vegas when Joe's cousin posted a picture of them at lunch from Thursday.  So, we had lunch and it was so much fun catching up with her.  You just never know who you're going to run in to in Vegas.

It was back to the Bay Area for both of us after our time in Vegas.  And a couple of weeks later, Joe would move to California permanently!!!
