Scrapbook Weekend

This year Crafty Michele and I already knew that we would not be able to make it to the scrapbook weekend in Canton.  So, we decided to make our own scrapbook weekend.  Michele did the research and on the spur of the moment, we decided to try a place in Roanoke - just down the street from our house.  The place usually doesn't book small parties, but she agreed to let 4 of us crop that weekend if we would agree to stay in the same bedroom downstairs (which was fine because there were 4 beds).  So, on a Friday night, Michele, Inka, Debbie Lou Hoo, and I went scrapbooking!!!  This place was a little different than Canton because we had to provide our own food.  We all brought some snacks and drinks and then everyone was assigned a meal (although we did go out to dinner on Saturday night).  It was so much fun!!!  I hope we are able to do it again soon. 

With that, I am caught up to our 9th Anniversary trip.  However, we are getting ready to go another adventure this week.  Not to mention, there is much work to do on that trip.  So I will be absent from you, dear blog, for a little while.  But, I will be back...

Chicago for Joe's 46th

For Joe's birthday this year we got tickets to a Cubs game.  This has been an on-again, off-again ritual for us - to go to a Cubs game every year.  But, this year, we decided to brave it and NOT buy tickets. As usual, the flights to Chicago were not the greatest.  As it turns out, we would have made the flight direct to ORD, but we decided to go for the sure thing, which was a connection through Memphis.

We arrived late in Memphis and had a hotel room in a Holiday Inn Express just over the border in Mississippi.  It had an airport shuttle, and the driver was really funny.  He was talking about all kinds of crazy things - including a story about some drunk girl passed out in the neighbors yard.  I probably should have been scared, but I was just amused.

The next morning we got up and completed our journey to Chicago.  We were able to check in to the Hilton at the airport, change clothes, and grab the train down to the game in plenty of time.  Especially given that just as the game was scheduled to start a huge storm moved through.  It rained cats and dogs, but just for a few minutes.  Afterward, we watched them move the tarp off the field and then it was time for the game.  Of course, after the rain, it was hot and humid, but we still love our Cubbies.  As an added bonus, they won!!!

After the game, we took a stroll to downtown.  We walked all the way from Wrigley to the heart of the Miracle Mile and then we rewarded ourselves with a treat at Ghiradelli.  It was awesome!

We took the train back to the hotel and headed home the next day.  We had thought we might spend a little time in town, but we decided to sleep late and just head home.  And, it was awesome!!

On June 23rd, 2012, my niece got married to her baby daddy, Micheal.  She really wanted to be a June bride and so she was.  The marriage was at the Czech Hall not far from my brother and sister-in-law's house in Yukon, OK and her mom helped with a lot of the decorations and the food.  Joe took the day off and we headed up for the ceremony and reception.  She seemed to really enjoy the day and it was nice spending time with family.  Jason ended up sleeping through the ceremony, but I suppose that was preferable to screaming / crying during the ceremony.  Ha!!!  Here's a few pictures:

We didn't spend the night in Oklahoma because we had babysitting duties - of the canine variety.  Yes, Oreo loved us so much, he came back to visit.  Here he is, thumbing his nose at his treat because he thinks I'll give him something better!!!
