July always starts out with Joe's birthday and for his 45th birthday weekend, we decided to drive less than 5 miles and spend some time at the Gaylord Texan. We actually started our weekend with a nice dinner at Bob's Steak & Chop House and then watched the movie, Jaws, at the Palace Theatre in downtown Grapevine. But the next day, we packed a bag and headed for the Gaylord. We spent the afternoon at the indoor pool (because the outdoor pool at the hotel was packed!). Later, after snacks at the Riverwalk Cantina, we went to the Glass Cactus nightclub and watched the sunset on Lake Grapevine then remembered our youth while rockin' out to an 80's rock cover band. The next day was all about the new Paradise Springs pool complex. It was H-O-T, so we spent most of the day in the water, and although it was packed, too, we still managed to have a pretty good time. Dinner at Zeppole, the Italian restaurant rounded out our weekend. If I were to give advice about the Gaylord Texan, I would say to stay away from holiday weekends, but if that's all you have, then go for it. Here's a few pictures:
