Today we were in Illinois to celebrate our first college graduation for a niece/nephew... Samantha - Joe's oldest niece and godchild - graduated today from the University of St. Francis in Joliet with her degree. She is planning to be an elementary school teacher. Sam worked really hard - going to school year-round to get her degree in 3 years instead of the standard 4 and now her hard work has paid off. Not only is she a college graduate, but she accomplished it in record time. Yea Sam!!!

It was a little touch and go as to whether Joe and I would be able to go to the ceremony. Each student was only given 4 tickets for their families. So, of course, those were for Nick, Mary, Emily, and Barb. But, fortunately, she was able to snag a couple more tickets from a fellow student that wasn't going to use all of theirs and we were able to go as well.
She was easy to find in the crowd, since she did a cute job of decorating her "hat." It was a pretty exciting day for the Foley's.
Later that evening, a bigger crowd was able to get together for dinner in Pontiac. Here's a pic of Sam with her cake and her godparents:
